The DMT AKFC Quick Edge Aligner Kit includes two 4″ Diamond Whetstones™ for a wide range of sharpening tasks. The sharpening surface is 4-3/8″ x 7/8″. One stone is a fine and one a coarse diamond whetstone. Additional stones made to fit the Aligner Kit are available. Made in Marlborough, Massachusetts by DMT, the tradename of Diamond Machining Technology, Inc.

First there is a coarse diamond stone. The grit is 45 micron / 325 mesh. This will quickly restore a neglected edge. Second is a fine diamond stone. The grit is 25 micron / 600 mesh. This will hone a razor-sharp edge. The kit also includes a fine diamond serrated knife sharpening accessory. Easy-to-follow instructions are also included.

Thanks to the micronized monocrystalline diamond surface on each stone in the kit, you can sharpen edges faster and easier than conventional stones can. We recommend sharpening with water.

To care for your stone: Use only water for lubrication. After use, rinse and dry product, and store dry. Additionally, to completely clean the files out of the diamond grit with a vigorous cleaning, use an abrasive cleanser (non-petroleum based) and a nylon scrub brush. Rinse in warm water and dry.

Carl Heimerdinger, the owner of Heimerdinger Cutlery, recommends that if the sharpener is used often, it would probably be helpful to clean it well at least four times a year.
