This Red Shavette Adaptor Sleeve holds the 1-3/4″ blade for the Dovo Shavette, a disposable blade straight razor. The Shavette #Dov201-081RD automatically comes with a red sleeve. This red sleeve ONLY holds the short 1-3/4″ disposable blade. (The cutting edge of the blade measures 1-1/2″.) The removable red plastic sleeve, which firmly holds the short razor blade, slides into the aluminum shank of the Shavette. Imported directly from Solingen, Germany.
PLEASE NOTE: DOVO IS NO LONGER SHIPPING THE RED ADAPTOR SLEEVES FOR THE SHAVETTE. THEY ARE NOW SHIPPING A WHITE, SEMI-OPAQUE MODEL.
ANY Shavette handle can hold either the “red” sleeve (for short 1-3/4″ blade) or the black sleeve (for the longer 2-1/2″ blade.) The short blades must be broken in half to fit in the red sleeve. The Shavette uses one-half of a double-edge razor blade.
To prepare blades for use in your Shavette razor using the RED sleeve, hold a short double-edge blade with a needle nose pliers near one edge of the blade with the other edge resting against a soft cushioned surface and bend the blade until it snaps in half length-wise. To put the half razor blade in the Shavette, take the red sleeve out of the aluminum shank of the handle by sliding it out the end. Sometimes it is helpful to use the pliers to get a grip on the red sleeve to pull it out. Open the red sleeve and notice that on one side there are two very small posts near the narrow side of the sleeve, and on the other half there are two holes that the posts go into. Place the sleeve in front of you with the narrow side of the sleeve toward you, and the posts pointing up. Take the blade (always handling it carefully because it is very sharp) and notice that there is an indention just past either end of the sharp edge. Lay the blade so the indentions rest in between the posts of the sleeve, and so the sharp edge protrudes slightly from the narrow side of the sleeve. Next, hold the blade near the open end of the sleeve, and carefully squeeze the sleeve closed with your thumb and finger at the ‘hinged’ end, gradually closing the sleeve completely, making sure the blade does not move out of position (again keeping in mind that it is exceedingly sharp). Still holding the sleeve securely at the open end and making sure you are holding the sleeve by the top part away from the protruding blade edge, carefully slide the sleeve into the shank of the razor handle, making sure the blade does not slip out of place. Be sure to hold the sleeve securely until the sleeve is completely in the shank. ALWAYS exercise extreme care when removing the razor-filled sleeve from the shank.
