Henckels 4 Star

Henckels was founded by German knife-maker Peter Henckels on June 13, 1731. Its logo was registered with the Cutlers’ Guild of Solingen, making Zwilling one of the earliest examples of a trademarked company. In 1771, Peter’s son Johann Abraham Henckels (1771–1850) was born and later became the namesake of the company. The current Henckels logo, with its distinctive red background, has been in use since 1969.

Zwilling, which means “The Twins” in German, is the recognizable symbol of J. A. Henckels. All high-quality Henckels kitchen knives bear this logo. Knives not made in Germany feature a single “Twin” symbol instead of the traditional Zwilling logo.

Carl Heimerdinger’s great-grandfather, W.C., and grandfather, W.G., attended the St. Louis World’s Fair in 1904. During the event, they met with representatives from Henckels, establishing a partnership that has made Heimerdinger a proud Henckels dealer since that time.
