Cuticle scissors are also known as cuticle trimmers. They are small scissors that have extra sharp, curved blades. Additionally, this makes them fit better around the area at the base of the nail. They are often used during manicures or pedicures. Gently push the cuticle back and them trim it if necessary.

Cuticle scissors should always be sterilized before using them.  A manicurist at a salon should never cut your cuticles enough to bleed. If you are giving yourself a manicure at home do not cut the cuticle close enough to cause bleeding.  If you do cut yourself, clean the cut thoroughly and apply antibiotic cream under a bandage.

Here are some general tips to follow in performing your own manicure. Be sure to clean your hands thoroughly. File your nails in one direction only. Do not use a back-and-forth motion. Using a back and forth motion promotes damage and cracking of the nail. Next soak your nails in warm water. Also applying a cuticle cream to soften the cuticles is another method. It makes it easier to push back and trim the cuticle. To finish apply your favorite nail polish. Also applying hand cream when the polish is dry will soften the skin and keep hands looking nice.
