The stone measures 3″ x 5/8″ (75 x 16 mm) Use the dark gray, coarse side to start a new edge or remove nicks and chips. Use the medium gray, fine side, for refining and maintaining a keen edge. Lubricate with mineral oil. Oil acts as an effective lubricant during sharpening to float away metal and abrasive dust that would otherwise clog up the stone and ultimately render it useless.
