This quality WA421-3-1/2 Cuticle Nipper Scissors has scissor handles. The cutting edges measure approximately 1/4″. In addition, the nipper measures about 3 1/2 inches. These scissor-type cuticle nippers have a lap joint. This is a standard way of assembling some tools. In addition a lap joint is more economical to produce.
As in all quality nippers, the cutting edges of this nipper first meet at the very tip. This leaves a wedge-like gap between the edges. Applying stronger pressure closes the cutting edges. Therefore, the edges close and cut in a rocking fashion like a knife on a cutting board.
Wasa forges these cuticle nippers. Ergo, forging makes the metal harder so the nippers will stay sharp longer.
The jaw on cuticle nippers refers to the cutting edge. The choice of jaw length primarily depends on personal preference. In our experience, the 3/16″ jaw is the most popular size for cutting cuticles. However, this nipper only comes in the 1/4″ jaw.
