This Dovo 201-003 Clear Sleeve (formerly Red) Shavette Adaptor Sleeve holds the 1-3/4″ blade for the Dovo Shavette, a disposable blade straight razor. The Shavette #Dov201-081RD automatically comes with a clear sleeve. This clear sleeve ONLY holds the short 1-3/4″ disposable blade. (The cutting edge of the blade measures 1-1/2″.) The removable clear or red plastic sleeve, which firmly holds the short razor blade, slides into the aluminum shank of the Shavette. Imported directly from Dovo in  Solingen, Germany.

ANY Shavette handle can hold either the Dovo 201-003 Clear Sleeve (for short 1-3/4″ blade) or the black sleeve (for the longer 2-1/2″ blade.) The razor blades must be broken in half to fit in the clear red sleeve. The Shavette uses one-half of a double-edge razor blade.

To prepare blades for use in your Shavette razor using the clear or red sleeve, hold a short double-edge blade with needle nose pliers at the end of the blade near one edge of the blade. Next, while resting the other edge against a soft cushioned surface, bend the blade until it snaps in half length-wise. Finally, take the clear or red sleeve out of the aluminum shank of the handle by sliding it out the end. It may be helpful to use the pliers to get a grip on the clear or red sleeve to pull it out.

Now, open the Dovo 201-003 Clear Sleeve (clear or red) and notice that on one side there are two very small posts which are near the narrow side of the sleeve. Similarly, on the other half there are two holes that the posts go into. Place the sleeve in front of you with the narrow side of the sleeve toward you, and the posts pointing up. The blade is very sharp so handle it carefully. You will notice that there is an indentation just past either end of the sharp edge. Lay the blade so the indentations rest in between the posts of the sleeve. The sharp edge should protrude slightly from the narrow side of the sleeve.

Next, hold the blade near the open end of the sleeve. Carefully squeeze the Dovo 201-003 Clear Sleeve closed with your thumb and finger at the ‘hinged’ end. Close the sleeve completely. Take care that the blade does not move out of position. Be certain that you are holding the sleeve by the top part away from the protruding blade edge. Carefully slide the sleeve into the shank of the razor handle. Finally, be sure the blade does not slip out of place. Remember to hold the sleeve securely until the sleeve is completely in the shank. ALWAYS exercise extreme care when removing the razor-filled sleeve from the shank.
