The two white rods are a fine 1000 grit, and the grey rods are a medium 800 grit. It’s easy to store this box in a kitchen drawer or camping gear.
There are two pre-set knife sharpening angles in the wood block. A 20-degree edge is found on most kitchen knives. The 25-degree angle used for those desiring a very sharp edge. What’s more a sharper edge might be needed for filet knives or cutting tomatoes. Moreover, lower degrees result in sharper knives but require more regular maintenance.
Lansky’s entry into the sharpening world started over 40 years ago. Arthur Lansky Levine was a medical student and prospective coroner. The sharpness of his surgical tools was always disappointing to him. Therefore, he started working on the idea of making a sharpener that anyone could use. His goal was to get a razor-sharp edge on tools and knives.
Besides, Arthur had surgical training. Additionally, he had managed his family’s outdoors store. He began to search issues facing the knife sharpening world and how he could solve them. Therefore, he soon invented the famous Controlled-Angle Sharpening System.
