The Ontario 18-B Machete Sheath Lightweight fits the Ontario 1-18 Machete and other 18″ blades. The sheath is constructed of black lightweight nylon.
Three men – William B. Ensworth, Charles Albert Brace and William Maudsley, started the company at Naples, New York, in 1889. Naples was in Ontario County therefore Ontario became the name of the Company. The company used a waterpower-run grindstone to produce the early knives.
Needing more space, the company moved to an old sawmill at Cadiz. This was near Franklinville, the current location. Finally, in 1902, the Ontario Knife Company was incorporated.
The Empire State Cutlery Company purchased the interests of the company in 1904. In 1905 the two companies combined under the name Ontario Knife Company.
In 1923, James A. Chrestensen, became president. Subsequently, the “Old Hickory” line would begin. Finally, his son Robert F. Chrestensen would take over as president after his father retired in 1952. In addition, Ontario Knife would expand its role in the cutlery industry with a membership in the American Cutlery Manufacturers’ Association. Robert F. Chrestensen had ben a past president.
