The SS427 Wapiti Hunter Blade with Gut Hook has a mirror-polished blade. There is also a 1/4 inch gutting hook on the back of the blade. This blade has a narrow or hidden tang. The cutting edge measures 3 1/4 and is 5/32 inch thick. The overall measurement is 8 3/4 In. The threaded tang measures 5mm x 8mm. Jantz uses 6-A stainless steel to make the knife blade.

A gut hook on a knife blade is a specialized feature. The gut hook makes opening a belly of an animal easier. After opening the belly, the hunter can then use the primary edge to dress out the animal.
