The Cocobolo wood comes in a variety of different colors. Those colors range from yellow, orange, red, and shades of brown with streaks of black or purple. For instance, Sapwood is typically a very pale yellow. Also, sanding or cutting the wood tend to bring out the lighter colors. The wood will darken with age.

The grain of the Cocobolo Wood Scales is straight to interlocked. It has a fine even texture. The natural luster is good.

This is a very durable wood. It is resistant to insect attack. Because of its natural oils it has good resistance to degrade from wet/dry cycles.
